What "Amazes me," says COP( rtd) Bright Oduro is the Interdicting senior officials involved in the Bugri Naabu audio leak
According to Mr. Bright Oduro, a retired Commissioner of Police( COP), it is amazing that the Ghana Police administration took the initiative to act and interdict three senior officers after Parliament launched an investigation into the Bugri Naabu tape leak. He argued that interdicting the Director General in charge of Technical, COP Mr. George Alex Mensah, and the two other officers, Superintendents Emmanuel Eric Gyebi and George Lysander Asare, without allowing them to comment on the tape-recorded conversation, was unnecessary. When a legal or serious misconduct issue is at stake, the police force may interdict; however, even in that case, Mr. Oduro said that the parties involved should be given the chance to respond before doing so.
"That is what amazes me because despite the police administration's lack of response to the tape, which has been available for more than two weeks, Parliament has launched a public investigation, and then it suddenly issues an interdiction for that." In a radio interview with Accra-based Citi FM on Thursday night( Sept 7), COP( retired) Mr. Bright Oduro said, "I don't think it's well placed," according to Graphic Online. COP( rtd) Mr. Oduro, who has a long history of success in criminal investigations, advanced through the ranks and eventually retired as the head of the Police Service's Criminal Investigations Department.
After the Black Stars, the television station called him on Thursday night to discuss his thoughts on the rules service's actions in relation to the Parliamentary analysis of the Bugri Naabu music that had been leaked and how the public website was handling the situation. Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, the Inspector General of Police( IGP), was the target of a plot during the tape's conversation.
